Welcome to Destination Riverina Murray

Current Project:
Riverina Murray Agritourism Strategy

We are currently developing an Agritourism Strategy to guide and stimulate the development of agritourism across the region. This new Agritourism Strategy will provide significant opportunities for farmers, tourism operators, and the wider community to capitalise on the Riverina Murray's unique combination of agricultural and tourism assets, including its wine, food, fibre, and natural attractions.

Few agritourism strategies have been developed in Australia
This will be the first for the Riverina Murray region
Over 450 agricultural stakeholders are currently being engaged through an array of comms, interviews and site visits
Visitor markets will be engaged through market testing of potential product development and marketing initiatives
130 people attended community consultation sessions that were held across region during May 2023
To be published late September 2023
The Riverina Murray is one of the largest and most diverse tourism regions in NSW. Stretching from Wentworth in the west, to Tumbarumba in the east, from Moama in the south, to Hillston and West Wyalong in the north, and linking to Victorian border communities along the mighty Murray River.

Directing this role for the region is a Destination Management Plan (DMP). Launched in February 2023, a key strategic direction in the new Riverina Murray DMP is the development of agritourism across the region. To guide and stimulate this direction, it was recommended to develop an Agritourism Strategy. DRM has appointed SMA Tourism as the lead consultant to prepare this Agritourism Strategy. Having prepared the current DMP, they are familiar with our region, it's stakeholders, lead products and visitor markets.
